In the Community

The Village

At The Den we try to put back into the local community where we can. We are proud to be part of the Walkington Parish and like to support their charities and projects. In the past we have donated towards events for both Walkington Pre-School and Friends of Walkington School. We are always happy to advertise local charity events so please get in touch!

Assistance Dogs

I have worked for an assistance dog charity for 10 years and I am passionate about being able to provide a safe space for both working assistance dogs and pups in training. We offer a 40% discount for these ADUK registered dogs, so please get in touch and let us know the dog's charity and ID number to benefit from this.

XL Bullies and 'Banned Breeds'

I believe that all dogs should have the right to freedom. Dogs who fall into this category are able to run here off lead within the law, as long as our rules are read and upheld and the relevant paperwork provided. Once you have sent over the relevant documents we are pleased to offer discounts for these dogs.

Children

Did you know some dog fields don't allow children!? We are proud to do what we can to help make the dog walk something that children can become more involved and interested in. Our pirate ship is a firm favourite, but the woodland itself provides the best imaginary fun. With our own children a simple stick has become a wand, a sword, a marshmallow roaster and even a broomstick. We provide seasonal fun at Easter, Halloween and Christmas as well as a year round animal hunt and activity sheet which aims to educate in a fun way. During school holidays we also add some extra fun competitions so that a dog walk here is never met with 'oh no, boring'!

Memory Tree

Our memory tree within the woodland is the most special part of the field. There hang hundreds of ribbons, collars, tags and leads to celebrate the dogs that love coming here and also remember those four pawed friends who are no longer with us. We usually have ribbon and pens available near the gate but feel free to bring your own too. We ask not to tie the ribbons too tightly around the branches to allow the tree to continue to grow.

Last Walks

Sending our dogs to the Rainbow Bridge is our last act of love, but also the most difficult decision that we make for them. If you are nearing the time for your dog's last walk please contact us as there is no charge for experiencing those last moments here. We can also arrange to keep the sessions before and afterwards free to ensure that you have absolute peace (where availability permits). We are honored that our field has been a final safe space for some much missed pets who are now waiting patiently at The Bridge.

Special Requests

We love to be able to make any special requests work for you where we can so please don't hesitate to get in touch! In the past we have helped to facilitate photo shoots, birthday pawties, litter reunions and more!
